Introduction
The construction of the temple was initiated by Lala Hardwari Mal Ji 80 years ago as a chaityalaya, but unfortunately, he passed away before its completion. Later, the Jain community constructed a shikhar (spire) and transformed the chaityalaya into a temple. The temple is built using beautiful Makrana marble. Intricate work has been done even in the inner part of the shikhar. Inside the temple, there is primarily a Garbh Grah (sanctum sanctorum) where the main idol (Pratima) of Shri Mahavir Swami is enshrined. Along with the Moolnayak Pratima (main deity’s idol), there are also idols of Shri Munisuvratnath Bhagwan and the Panch Balyati deities. These idols were brought from the Firozpur temple during the Panchkalyanak (consecration ceremony). The temple has a well for the Abhishek (auspicious bath of the idol) and even a lift for those who are unable to climb the stairs. Devotees associated with the temple visit regularly for worship and rituals.
Dharamshala
In Rohtak, there is a community of around 300 Digambar Jain families. The management of the temple is undertaken by the Jain community. From time to time, Jain saints also visit Rohtak. Adequate arrangements are made for the visitors who come to the temple for darshan. If any pilgrim contacts the temple, arrangements for their accommodation and meals are provided by the Jain community. In the area, a Jain library has been established. The girls' and boys' schools constructed by the Jain community provide education to students from all sections of society.
History
Rohtak is a district in the state of Haryana, India. It was originally founded by King Rohatasa, who built the fort of Rohatasa Garh (Rohatas Fort). Rohtak district is surrounded by five districts of Haryana from all sides. To its north lies Jind, to the east lies Sonipat, to the west lies Bhiwani, to the south lies Jhajjar, to the northwest lies Hisar and to the southwest lies Bahadurgarh. Rohtak is known for its grain and cotton markets. Notably, the industrial activities here include food processing, cotton ginning, sugar production, and electricity generation.
