Introduction
The local Jain community says that previously in the area lived Shwetambar Muni Shri Kani Ram Maharaj Ji. He was a divine person.
“One day, as a potter passed by him with a clay pot, he saw with his divine vision that inside the potter pot was a Jain idol made of stone.”
He stopped the potter and asked him where he got this clay and stone from. The potter replied that he had dug up this clay and stone from Khokhra Kot. He then urged a member of the Pansari community present nearby to buy this pot from the potter, offering him a silver coin. The community members bought the pot and when it was opened, they found a stone idol of Shri Chandraprabhu Bhagwan ji inside. Seeing the idol, a wave of joy spread through the Jain community. Since there was no Jain temple in Babara Mohalla at that time, the idol was initially kept in Sarai Mohalla in Rohtak. Later, Lala Shikhar Chand Jain Ji donated land for the construction of the temple, and subsequently, the entire Jain community came together to build the temple. The current temple has five Vedi (altars). The Mool (main) Vedi of the temple belongs to Shri Chandraprabhu Bhagwan, where Shri Chandraprabhu Bhagwan’s Chaturthkalin Pratima is enshrined. The consecration of the second Vedi took place in the year 2001 in the presence of Shri 108 Sourabh Sagar Ji Maharaj and Acharya Shri 108 Prabal Sagar Ji Maharaj. The Moolnayak Pratima (main deity’s idol) in the second Vedi is of Shri Adinath Bhagwan, which was obtained from underground and is also a Chaturthkalin Pratima. The consecration of the third Vedi also took place in the year 2001 in the presence of Shri Sourabh Sagar Ji Maharaj and Acharya Shri Prabal Sagar Ji Maharaj. The Moolnayak Pratima in the third Vedi is of Shri 1008 Neminath Bhagwan. The fourth Vedi of the temple belongs to Shri 1008 Shantinath Bhagwan, and the fifth Vedi belongs to Shri 1008 Mahavir Bhagwan. The installation of the kalash and the religious flag on the Shikhar (spire) of the temple was done on June 25, 2023, by Shri Bhupendra Jain, son of Late Lala Shikhar Chand Jain. Along with the temple, there is also a Jain dharamshala, where arrangements are made for the pilgrims visiting the temple. The land for the dharamshala was donated by Smt. Chandra Jain. Members of the Jain community visit the temple daily for worship, rituals, and ablutions.

This incident dates back to 1995 when the temple was damaged due to flooding in the area. At that time, the local Jain community was not affluent enough to address this crisis. Members of the Jain community gathered and pleaded before the idol of Shri Chandraprabhu Bhagwan, requesting Shri Ji to resolve this issue. When they reached the temple in the morning, they heard a voice from the Garbh Grah (sanctum sanctorum) of the temple reassuring them that they need not worry, as the funds for the reconstruction of the temple would be provided to them. Gradually, the community started accumulating funds, and the reconstruction work of the temple began anew.
Dharamshala
In Rohtak, there is a community of 300 Digambar Jain families. The management of the temple is overseen by the Jain community. From time to time, Jain Muni Maharaj (Saints) also visit Rohtak. Adequate arrangements are made for those who come to visit the temple, including facilities for lodging and meals provided by the Jain community. For pilgrims coming from distant areas, accommodation arrangements are made in the Jain Dharamshala located near the temple premises. A Jain library has been established in the area. The Jain community has also established girls and boys schools where education is provided to students from all sections of society.
History
Rohtak is a district in the state of Haryana (India). It was established by King Rohitas, who built Rohtas Garh (Rohtas Fort). Rohtak district is surrounded by five districts of Haryana on all sides. To its north is Jind, east is Sonipat, west is Bhiwani, south is Jhajjar, northwest is Hisar, and southwest is Bahadurgarh. Rohtak is a major market for grains and cotton. Notable industrial activities here include food processing, cotton ginning, sugar, and textile weaving on powerlooms.
