Getting Started

How JainSthal Works

A quick guide to finding temples, keeping your own pilgrimage record, and helping us keep listings accurate.

What needs an account?

Browsing, searching, and reading every temple page is open to everyone — no account needed. Signing in unlocks the personal features: favorites, your pilgrimage record, leaving suggestions, and submitting a temple.

Finding temples

No account needed

Search by name from the header, or use the filters on the home page to narrow by state, category, or idol age. Prefer a map? Switch to Map view to see every temple plotted by location.

  • •Search box in the header jumps straight to matching temples
  • •Home page filters: state, category (Digambar / Shwetambar, Atishay Kshetra, etc.), and idol age range
  • •Map view plots every documented temple — verified listings are marked
  • •Every temple page is available in English and Hindi — switch anytime with the toggle top-right

Listen to any page

No account needed

Prefer to listen instead of read? Tap Listen on any temple page to have its story read aloud, section by section.

  • •Works entirely in your browser — no login, no download
  • •Read the whole page, or just one section at a time
  • •Pause, resume, or restart anytime while listening

Tap the heart on any temple card or temple page to save it. Your saved temples live in one place, so you can find them again without searching.

  • •Heart icon on temple cards and temple pages
  • •Saved list under Favorites in your account menu
  • •Un-favorite anytime — nothing else is affected

  • •Mark a temple visited from its page or from My Pilgrimage
  • •Up to 3 notes per temple, 2000 characters each
  • •Edit or delete any note anytime — it's yours

Suggestions & feedback

Sign-in required

See something missing or incorrect on a temple page? Use "Know something about this temple?" to send our team a note. You can edit it until we've reviewed it, and reply back and forth if we have questions.

  • •Editable anytime while it's still Submitted — it locks once we mark it Reviewed
  • •Two-way reply thread with our team, up to 20 messages per suggestion
  • •Our replies always show as JainSthal, not an individual's name
  • •Track every suggestion you've sent and its status under My Suggestions

Submitting a temple

Sign-in required to save

Know a Jain temple that isn't listed yet? Use Submit Temple to add it — you can start filling in details right away, but you'll need to sign in before it's saved. Our team reviews every submission before it goes live.

  • •Start anytime; sign in when you're ready to save your progress
  • •Come back and continue a draft anytime from My Submissions
  • •Reviewed by our team before publishing — we may return it with questions
  • •Once published, it's a full temple page others can find, search, and favorite
Submit Temple →

One account covers everything — favorites, pilgrimage notes, suggestions, and submissions. Manage your details anytime from Account in the menu.

  • •Register with an email and password, or sign in if you already have one
  • •Forgot your password? Use the link on the sign-in page to reset it
  • •Update your name, email, or password anytime from Account
  • •The language toggle (top-right) applies across the whole site, signed in or not

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account to browse temples?

No — searching, filtering, the map, and every temple page are open to everyone.

What do I actually need an account for?

Favorites, My Pilgrimage notes, leaving suggestions on a temple page, and submitting a new temple.

Can I edit a suggestion after I've sent it?

Yes, as long as it's still Submitted. Once our team marks it Reviewed, the original message locks — but the reply thread stays open if you still need to say something.

Will I know which admin replied to my suggestion?

No — every reply from our side shows as JainSthal, regardless of who on the team answered.

Is there a limit on the back-and-forth?

Each suggestion thread holds up to 20 messages. If you hit that limit, reach us directly through Contact.

How many pilgrimage notes can I keep per temple?

Up to 3, each up to 2000 characters. You can edit or delete any of them whenever you like.

What happens after I submit a new temple?

It goes into our review queue. Our team may publish it as-is, return it with questions, or reach out for more detail before it goes live.

Can I switch languages partway through?

Yes — the EN / हिन्दी toggle in the header switches immediately and works on every page.
