Introduction
The construction of Shri 1008 Parshvanath Digambar Jain Mandir was carried out by Shri Lalit Jain and Shri Rakesh Jain in an area of approximately 700 square yards. The inspiration for the construction of the temple came from the revered saints, Acharya Shri 108 Vidyasagar Ji Maharaj and Rashtriya Saint Acharya Shri 108 Vidyanand Ji Maharaj, along with their worthy disciple, Param Pujya Acharya Shri 108 Shrutasagar Ji Maharaj, and the respected Acharya Pandit Jay Nishant Ji Jain (Tikamgarh), and Bal Brahmachari Nitin Bhaiya Ji Khurai, Madhya Pradesh. The foundation stone for the temple was laid and the consecration ceremony of the deity was performed on the auspicious occasion of Magh Shukla Purnima, Veer Nirvan Samvat 2542, Vikram Samvat 2072, dated 22nd February 2016, Monday. Subsequently, in 2020, during the consecration ceremony (Panch Kalyanak Pratishtha) of the temple, the farmer agitation issue was widespread across the country. The impact of the farmer agitation was observed in various regions of Haryana as well. However, due to the influence of Shri Parshvanath Bhagwan Ji, there were no incidents or protests in the local area.
The construction of the temple is done in the shape of a chariot with two giant elephants in front, which is why the temple is also called the Gajrath Mandir. The entire temple is intricately carved out of stone. Each door and corner of the temple has been meticulously carved on stone. Primarily, there is only one Vedi (altar) in the temple, which has been beautifully crafted in gold. The Moolnayak Pratima (main deity’s idol) on the Vedi is of Shri Parshvanath Bhagwan. Along with the Moolnayak Pratima, there are idols of Shri 1008 Adinath Bhagwan, Shri 1008 Chandraprabhu Bhagwan, Shri 1008 Vasupujya Bhagwan, Shri 1008 Shantinath Bhagwan, Shri 1008 Neminath Bhagwan and Shri 1008 Mahavir Bhagwan enshrined in the temple. The temple also houses a spacious hall, where a Jain library has been constructed for study purposes. Every day, members of the Jain community visit the temple to perform worship, rituals, and Abhishek (auspicious bath of the idol). Every year, on the occasion of Diwali, the Jain community creates Pavagiri ji and offers laddus to the deities as part of the celebration.
Dharamshala
In Rohtak, there is a community of around 300 Digambar Jain families. The management of the temple is overseen by the Jain community. Occasionally, Jain Munis also visit Rohtak. Adequate arrangements are made for those who come to visit the temple. If a pilgrim contacts the temple, arrangements are made for their stay and meals by the Jain community. A Jain library has been established in the area. Girls and boys from all communities are provided education in schools built by the Jain community. For young children, a Jain pathshala is organized once a week so that they can learn Jain principles and incorporate them into their lives.
History
Rohtak is a district in the state of Haryana, India. It was originally founded by King Rohatash of Rohatashgarh (Rohtas Fort). Rohtak district is surrounded by five districts of Haryana from all sides. To its north lies Jind, to the east lies Sonipat, to the west lies Bhiwani, to the south lies Jhajjar, and to the northwest lies Hisar, while southwest lies Bahadurgarh. Rohtak is a major market for grains and cotton. Noteworthy industrial activities here include food processing, cotton ginning, and textile weaving in sugar and electricity mills.
