Introduction
Shri 1008 Shantinath Digambar Jain Golden Temple, located in Sector 7, Rohini, Delhi, was established in 2014 under the guidance of the esteemed Jain saint and promoter of vegetarianism, Upadhyay Shri 108 Guptisagar Ji Maharaj. Prior to the temple's construction, a Chaityalaya (worship hall) had been built by a Jain family in the area. As the Jain community in the region was growing, the demand for a temple also increased. In response, Upadhyay Shri 108 Guptisagar Ji Maharaj laid the foundation stone for the temple on May 31, 2009. Over time, the Chaityalaya evolved into a Shikhar Bandh (spire-topped) Jain temple. The temple is renowned for its three grand golden Shikhars, earning it the name "Golden Jain Temple." Its exterior is adorned with intricate carvings and a golden hue, giving it a radiant golden aura and majestic appearance. Following its completion, the Panchkalyaanak Mahotsav was celebrated with great fervor under the presence of Shri 108 Guptisagar Ji Maharaj, from December 4 to December 11, 2014. The temple currently spans an area of 500 square yards and consists of five stories. The ground floor houses a Sant Bhavan, built under the guidance of Upadhyay Shri 108 Guptisagar Ji Maharaj. The main Garbh Grah (sanctum sanctorum) is situated on the third floor, where three idols made of Ashtadhatu (eight metals) are enshrined. The principal idol is of Shri 1008 Shantinath Bhagwan, seated in Padmasana, accompanied by smaller idols (Laghu Pratima) of Shri Arhanath Bhagwan, Shri Kunthunath Bhagwan, and other Ashtadhatu idols. Shri Shantinath Bhagwan holds special reverence in this region, and a Shanti Vidhana (peace prayer) is held every month. To the right of the main Vedi (altar) is the Vedi of Shri 1008 Parshwanath Bhagwan, and to the left is the Vedi of Shri 1008 Adinath Bhagwan. On the topmost floor of the temple, a lotus-shaped Chaubisi (24 Tirthankara) Vedi has been created, where the idols of the 24 Tirthankaras of Jainism are enshrined.

Additionally, idols of the Tirthankaras are also placed on the temple’s Shikhar. It is said that during the COVID-19 pandemic, when visiting the temple became difficult, the installation of idols on the Shikhars provided a solution. Devotees were able to view the idols from a distance, allowing them to receive blessings even without entering the temple. Upadhyay Shri 108 Guptisagar Ji Maharaj has held his Chaturmas (monsoon retreat) here, and the temple is frequently visited by other esteemed Jain saints, including Acharya Shri 108 Sunil Sagar Ji Maharaj, Shri 108 Pranmy Sagar Ji Maharaj, Shri 108 Chandr Sagar Ji Maharaj, Shri 108 Veer Sagar Ji Maharaj, Shri 108 Dhaval Sagar Ji Maharaj, and several others. The temple can be easily accessed using the Delhi Metro, with the nearest station being Rohini West Metro Station. From here, devotees can walk to the temple at their convenience. The temple is also near DDA Park and a Community Hall. Adjacent to the temple are a Jain Sthanak and a Vedic Hindu Temple.
Jain Samaj
The Jain community in Delhi plays a vital role in the capital, with both the Digambar and Shwetamber Jain communities having established themselves in various parts of the city. Temples have been built across different localities to serve their spiritual needs. The Shri Digambar Jain Sabha in Sector 7, Rohini, was founded to oversee the proper functioning of this temple. The temple committee is actively involved in various social activities. Approximately a hundred Jain families reside near the temple, regularly visiting for prayers and rituals. A sermon hall has been created on the lower floor of the temple, serving as a venue for religious gatherings. On the second floor, under the guidance of Upadhyay Shri 108 Guptisagar Ji Maharaj, a Sant Bhavan has been constructed to provide accommodation for visiting Jain saints. For those unable to climb stairs, a lift is available for easy access to the temple. The committee also organizes religious camps periodically to promote Jain values and rituals within the community.
History
