Sadhora Bada Jain Mandir

“Once a thief entered the temple with the intention of theft.”

The temple housed valuable items and ancient idols. The thief proceeded towards the threshold of the temple, carrying the valuable items he had stolen. As soon as he placed his foot outside the temple's threshold, he became blind. Terrified, he started shouting loudly. Hearing the commotion, people gathered, and the thief was handed over to the police. It was the Atishay of the idols enshrined in the temple that rendered the thief unsuccessful in his attempt to steal from the temple.

Sadhora is located thirty-five kilometers away from Yamunanagar district in Haryana. There was a time when Sadhora had a Jain community consisting of 400 to 500 Digambar Jain families, but today only ten to twelve Jain families remain. Despite the small number of Jain families, the management of temples in the area is being carried out effectively. The Jain community conducts daily worship and rituals in the temples. Special attention is given by the community to maintain the cleanliness for the followers. A dharamshala constructed by the Jain community in the area has two rooms and two large halls for the convenience of pilgrims coming from afar. If any pilgrim contacts the temple management, arrangements for meals are also provided by the Jain community. Additionally, the Jain community has also established an Ayurvedic pharmacy in the area.

Sadhora is a city in the Yamunanagar district of Haryana state. It used to be known as 'Sadhu Raah' due to being a route for the Sadhus (ascetics), which later evolved into Sadhora. Sadhora has great historical significance. Before the partition of India and Pakistan, it was under the municipality of Lahore due to the larger population of Muslims. Maharaja Ranjit Singh also ruled here. It is a famous place for Muslims known as 'Rozapir', where an annual fair is held. Every year, thousands of devotees from neighboring states of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh come here to seek blessings and fulfill their religious vows.

Located 10 km away from Sadhora is the sacred pilgrimage site for Hindus known as Adi Badri, where the Mantra Devi Mata Temple is situated. Along with it, there are several ancient temples such as Saraswati River origin, Tarowala, Gaagadwala, and many more, mentioned in Puranas and scriptures. This place is also associated with Sikh history. Guru Gobind Singh Ji's disciple, a Muslim Faqir named Budhan Shah, had a significant connection here. In his honor, there is a Gurudwara named Gurudwara Peer Budhan Shah in Sadhora.
