Parshvanath Chaityalaya Rohtak
Introduction
Bhagwan Shri Parshvanath Chaityalaya is located in Anandpura, Rohtak, 66 kilometers from the capital of India, Delhi. This Chaityalaya was constructed in 1991 at the residence of Babu Shri Naresh Chand Jain, a prominent member of the local Jain community, inspired by "Ganadharacharya Shri Kunthu Sagar Ji Maha Muniraj." Shri Naresh Chand Jain, known for his extraordinary talent, gentle speech, simplicity and dedication. He was a selfless worker with noble thoughts. He played a crucial role in performing religious ceremonies at weddings and was known for conducting 'pheras' with pure devotion. He served as the president of the Shri Vardhman Kirtan Mandal Rohtak for many years, earning him the name "Naresh Pradhan Ji" among the Jain community in Rohtak. Shri Vardhman Kirtan Mandal Rohtak and the entire Jain community of Rohtak feel honored to bestow upon him the title of 'Jain Ratna.'
In the Mool Vedi (main altar) of the temple, the Moolnayak Pratima (main deity’s idol) is an Ashtadhatu (eight metals) idol of Shri 1008 Parshvanath Bhagwan. Alongside this idol, two other Ashtadhatu idols are also enshrined. In addition to the Mool Vedi, there are also vedi dedicated to Mata Padmavati and Kshetrapal Baba Ji in the temple.
Dharamshala
In Rohtak, there is a community of around 300 Digambar Jain families. The Jain community manages the temple, which is well-maintained and equipped for pilgrims. Jain Sadhu Maharaj also visits Rohtak from time to time. Those who come to visit the temple can avail of appropriate arrangements. If any pilgrim contacts the temple in advance, the Jain community provides accommodation and food. A Jain library has been established in the area. The Jain community has also built schools for both boys and girls, where students from all communities receive education. For younger children, Jain Pathshala is organized once a week so that they can learn about Jain principles and lead their lives accordingly.
History
Rohtak is a district in the state of Haryana, India. The city of Rohtak was originally established by King Rohitas of Rohtasgarh (the fort of Rohtas). The district of Rohtak is surrounded by five other districts of Haryana. To the north lies Jind, to the east is Sonipat, to the west is Bhiwani, to the south is Jhajjar, to the northwest is Hisar, and to the southwest is Bahadurgarh. Rohtak is a major market for grains and cotton. The notable industrial activities in the area include food production, cotton ginning, sugar manufacturing, and power loom weaving.
