Golakot Atishay Kshetra

Located just 8 kilometers away from the Khaniyadhana, towards the south, the Golakot Jain Mandir stands amidst the Vindhya-Chal Panch Parvat mountains, making it a particularly significant place for the Jain community. Shaped like a circular mound, resembling the roundness of the surrounding hills, hence it is called Golakot Mandir. As a part of the archaeological heritage of Shivpuri region, the Golakot Jain Mandir is a site where several Jain Saints and monks have experienced the divine presence of Bhagwan Jinendra during rituals, resulting in frequent visits by Jain saints. Even during Chaturmas, Jain saints sanctify this holy land. The temple holds historical significance for the Jain community, drawing hundreds of thousands of devotees annually who come to witness the magnificent idols of Shri Jindendra Bhagwan.

In the temple, idols of all the Tirthankar from Bhagwan Adinath to Bhagwan Parshvanath (preceding Bhagwan Shri Mahavir Swami), are preserved as archaeological artifacts. It is estimated that all these idols are more than 3000 years old, dating back to the time before Shri Mahavir Bhagwan. The Moolnayak Pratima (main deity’s idol) in the temple is of Shri Adinath Bhagwan. The history of this place narrates that approximately 700 families of the Digambar Jain community belonging to the Dedamuri Gotra used to reside on this mountain, and it was these families who conducted the Abhishek (auspicious bath of the idol) of the Moolnayak Pratima of Bhagwan Adinath here. Due to the efforts of the local Jain community, there were around 900 wells and 89 reservoirs naturally present in this area. It is said that even today, bathing in these reservoirs provides quick relief to patients suffering from skin diseases.

Previously, devotees used to reach the Golakot Mandir by climbing 264 stairs from the ground. To avoid the necessity of climbing stairs, a paved path has been constructed for reaching the temple. Located just 2 kilometers away from the Golakot Mandir in the village of Goodar, an extremely ancient Jain Mandir serves as a focal point of people's faith. Initially, devotees of the Jain religion used to arrive directly at this temple to pay their respects. However, due to migration patterns within the Jain community, the number of Jain families in the area has significantly decreased over time.

In 2014, for the first time, Mr. A.K. Jain, an I.P.S. officer from Delhi, along with seven members of the Jaipur Jain Friends Association, visited the Golakot Ji area. Upon arrival, they had the darshan of Shri Adinath Bhagwan Ji. Everyone was deeply moved by the darshan of Shri Adinath Ji. However, they were saddened to see the condition of the area. Mr. Vinay Jain, the caretaker of the area, described to them the situation of the temple, explaining that people from the surrounding areas only visit the temple once a year. No contribution was made by the community for the maintenance of the temple. Upon learning this, Mr. A.K. Jain, along with the seven members of the Jaipur Jain Friends Association, inspected the area. They assured Mr. Vinay Jain, the caretaker, that with their efforts, they will encourage more devotees to visit the temple regularly. Under the leadership of Mr. Satyendra Kumar Jain, Mr. Rakesh Jain (architect), and Mr. Sudhir Jain (C.A.), and with the guidance and inspiration of Acharya Shri Vidyasagar Ji Maharaj and Muni Shri 108 Sudhasagar Ji Maharaj, the development work of the area began.
