Introduction
Shri 1008 Shantinath Digambar Jain Mandir is located near the Main Bazaar in Gohana. The construction of the temple was initiated around 600 years ago by the Jain community during the ancient times of Gohana. It is said that at that time, there were more than 500 Jain families in the area. Due to the increase in number of Jain devotees in the Prachin Jain Mandir which was built a few years ago, the Jain community decided to construct a new temple. Thus this temple was the second temple in Gohana city at that time.
Construction work has been ongoing periodically and currently reconstruction of three Vedi (altars) in the temple is underway. The Moolnayak Pratima (main deity’s idol) in the temple is of Shri 1008 Shantinath Bhagwan, which is around 600 years old and was established during the temple's initial construction. In the second Vedi of the temple, the Moolnayak Pratima is of Shri Chandraprabhu Bhagwan, and in the third Vedi, the Moolnayak Pratima is of Shri Shantinath Bhagwan. Along with the Moolnayak Pratima, other Jain idols are also placed in the Vedi. All the idols in the temple are more than 500 years old. Devotees visit the temple to seek blessings and fulfill their desires. Every day, members of the Jain community come to the temple for worship and rituals. When Jain Saints visit Gohana, they also visit this temple.
Dharamshala
In Gohana, there is currently a community of 50 to 60 Jain families. The Jain community manages the operations of the temple. A building called "Tyagi Bhavan" has been constructed by the Jain community for the accommodation of Jain Saints who visit the area. If any Pilgrim contacts the temple and arrives, arrangements are made for their stay by the Jain community. The Dharamshala constructed by the Jain community consists of two large halls and two rooms.
