Gohana Mahavir Jain Mandir
Gohana is the oldest Tehsil (administrative division) of Haryana.

Introduction
Shri 1008 Mahavir Bhagwan Digambar Jain Mandir is located in Purani Mandi Gohana, Sonipat (Haryana). In the year 1975, Pandit Padman Kumar Shastri visited Gohana. During that time the construction of the temple was completed and he desired that the first Panchkalyanak (consecration ceremony) in the temple be conducted by him. Therefore, he requested the local Jain community for the Panchkalyanak. At that time, Jain Acharya Shri 108 Vidyanand Ji Maharaj was also present in Gohana. Eventually, under the presence of Pandit Padman Kumar Shastri and Acharya Shri 108 Vidyanand Ji Maharaj, the Panchkalyanak of the temple took place.
The temple primarily consists of one Vedi (altar), on which the white stone idol of Shri 1008 Mahavir Bhagwan is seated in a lotus position. Also, an ancient Ashtadhatu (eight-metal) idol of Shri Parshvanath Bhagwan, which is approximately 1700 years old, can be seen in the Vedi. This idol was previously situated in the Parshvanath Digambar Jain Mandir in ‘Nagar’ village located about three to four kilometers away from Gohana.
During the partition of India and Pakistan in the year 1947, the region was engulfed in an atmosphere of violence. At that time, to ensure the safety of the idols, the Jain community moved the idols from the Gohana temple and placed them in the Bhatgaon temple. Later, after peace was restored, the idols were placed in a Vedi of the Gohana temple. Eventually, this idol was enshrined in the Mahavir temple by the Jain community. Along with the Moolnayak Pratima (main deity’s idol), there are also idols of other Tirthankaras enshrined in the Vedi. The Vedi and the Garbh Grah of the temple have been adorned with gold and glass work. Daily worship rituals, including Puja-Prakshal and Abhishek (auspicious bath of the idol), are regularly performed by the Jain community members. Every year, the auspicious occasion of Rath Yatra is celebrated with great enthusiasm by all the residents of the region.
Atishay Katha
In the year 1975, after the Panchkalyanak, a grand procession of Rath Yatra was being conducted throughout the entire area. As the Rath Yatra procession concluded and the idols were being moved from the chariot to the Vedi, suddenly strong winds began to blow rapidly. People recounted that the winds were so strong that even tents flew off to distant places.
Another incident occurred during this time. People had come from distant areas on the occasion of Panchkalyanak. Laddu was prepared for everyone, but due to the large number of people, it was felt that there weren't enough laddu for everyone in the community. Otherwise, it would be a dishonor to the society. Pandit Ji placed a cloth over the laddu and covered them. He told the people of the community to distribute the laddu without removing the sheet. Eventually, when everyone arrived, they received laddu. When the sheet was lifted, it was found that there were still four laddu left.
Dharamshala
In Gohana, there is a community of 50 to 60 Jain families. The management of the temple is carried out by the Jain community itself. For the Jain Saints who visit the area, a building called "Tyagi Bhavan" has been constructed. If any Pilgrim contacts the temple and arrives, arrangements are made for their stay by the Jain community. The Dharamshala constructed by the Jain community consists of two large halls and two rooms.
History
Gohana city is located in Sonipat district of Haryana. It lies to the west of Sonipat city, approximately 40 kilometers away. Initially, it was a part of Rohtak district.

It was declared a Tehsil by the British in 1826. In ancient times, Gohana was known as Gaon Bhavan and was considered a sacred place. As a Tehsil town, people from various communities reside here. At one time, there used to be a community of more than 500 Jain families here.
