Introduction
Shri 1008 Chandraprabhu Digambar Jain Prachin Mandir is located in the main market of Dharuhera. The construction of the temple was undertaken by the Jain community around 175 years ago. Initially, the Garbh Grah (sanctum sanctorum) of the temple was limited to one room. Due to the increasing number of devotees visiting for Darshan, the temple committee decided to expand the area of the temple. The temple committee expanded the area and constructed a Vedi (altar) between the years 1938 to 1940, and Pratisthith idols were installed in the Vedi. These idols are still enshrined in the temple in the same manner as they were originally established.
The interior walls and Shikhar (spire) of the temple have Jain paintings depicting Jain narratives. From time to time, various Jain saints such as Acharya Shri 108 Dharma Sagar Ji Maharaj Sangh, Acharya Shri 108 Nirmal Sagar Ji Maharaj, Acharya Shri 108 Vimal Sagar Ji Maharaj, Acharya Shri 108 Deshbhushan Ji Maharaj, Acharya Shri 108 Vardhman Sagar Ji Maharaj, Tapasvi Samrat Acharya Shri 108 Sanmati Sagar Ji Maharaj, Aryika Dradhmati Mata Ji, and other Jain Saints have visited in the temple.
The temple primarily houses a Garbh Grah where Shri Chandraprabhu Bhagwan is present as the Moolnayak Pratima (Main Idol). The idol of Shri Chandraprabhu Bhagwan dates back to the year 1816. Beautiful golden work has been done in the Garbh Grah. The idol of Shri Chandraprabhu Bhagwan holds great significance in the region, attracting devotees from far for its darshan. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, no individual who sought solace in the temple has faced any problem. To this day, no obstacles have ever hindered any activities within the temple, and all functions proceed smoothly without any hindrance. Daily Jain devotees at the temple perform rituals such as worship (puja), cleansing (prakshal), and ablutions (Abhishek) regularly.
Dharamshala
In Dharuhera, there is a community of more than a hundred Jain families. The management of the temple is handled by the Jain community itself. From time to time, Jain Saints regularly visit the area. A residence called the "Tyagi Bhavan'' has been constructed for the accommodation of Jain Saints. If any Pilgrim contacts the temple and arrives, arrangements are made for their stay in the Dharamshala built by the Jain community. Also there is a Jain school constructed by the Jain community that provides education up to the fifth grade.
History
Dharuhera is a census town located just 19 kilometers away from the city of Rewari in the state of Haryana, India. It falls within the National Capital Region (NCR) of Delhi and serves as a major industrial center in the Rewari district. Dharuhera also has emerged as a new development corridor between Gurugram and New Delhi. It is only an hour's drive from the Indira Gandhi International Airport. It is connected to Rajasthan from New Delhi, via National Highway 48. Due to its location, it is a prime choice for industrialists, investors, and real estate developers. As per the 2011 Census of India, the population of Dharuhera was 30,344. The male population constituted 54.09% and the female population constituted 45.91% of the total. The average literacy rate in Dharuhera was 83.18%, which was higher than the state average of 75.55% and the national average of 74.04% as of 2011.
