Behsuma Atishay Kshetra
Situated approximately 7.5 kilometers from Hastinapur on National Highway 34, in Baghpat district of Uttar Pradesh, is the revered Shri 1008 Chandraprabhu Digambar Jain Atishay Kshetra, Behsuma.
Since Shri 1008 Chandraprabhu Digambar Jain Atishay Kshetra Behsuma is a major Jain site, the management of the temple is handled by Shri Digambar Jain Seva Samiti, Behsuma. The members of the committee are as follows :
Introduction
“Situated approximately 7.5 kilometers from Hastinapur on National Highway 34, in Baghpat district of Uttar Pradesh, is the revered Shri 1008 Chandraprabhu Digambar Jain Atishay Kshetra, Behsuma.”
Behsuma has a history dating back to the time of the Mahabharata. It is believed to be the birthplace of Bhishma Pitamah, and the area was named after him. The main entrance of the temple is located about 500 meters ahead from Behsuma Police Station, through the narrow lanes of Behsuma Bazar. However, you can easily spot the temple Shikhar (spire) from the main road. As the road to the temple passes through the market, it is suggested to park your vehicle outside the market and walk to the temple. It is said that during the excavation of the Gang canal in the past, Jain idols were discovered. To establish these idols in the Hastinapur Bada Jain Mandir, was possibly the only ancient Jain temple at that time. The idols were brought to Hastinapur by the Jain community in a bullock cart. On the way, they halted at Behsuma for rest. When the bullock cart resumed its journey towards Hastinapur in the morning, it wouldn't move forward. Despite several attempts, it remained stationary. Consequently, the community decided to construct the temple in Behsuma itself to establish these idols. At that time, a member of the Jain community provided the space to build the temple, and later the construction of the temple was carried out, and the idols were enshrined in the temple. It is believed that praying with true devotion in the temple fulfills one's wishes. People believe that the Dev continuously resides in the temple. Currently, there is only one Vedi (altar) in the temple. Earlier, during the construction of the temple, the idols were temporarily placed in another Vedi for some time. In Behsuma Temple, Chaturth Kalin Pratima of Shri Chandraprabhu Bhagwan is enshrined. The idols enshrined in the temple are extremely magnificent. In the Vedi of the temple, there is also the very ancient idol of Shri Parshvanath Bhagwan. Before visiting the Hastinapur Bada Mandir, all Jain Saints also visit Behsuma.

If you visit the Bada Jain temple in Hastinapur, be sure to visit the revered site of Shri 1008 Chandraprabhu Digambar Jain Atishay Kshetra Behsuma, which is 17 kilometers before Hastinapur. Although Hastinapur has now transformed into a developed area with various facilities available for pilgrims, you can still choose to relax at Behsuma Temple. Arrangements have been made for the accommodation of pilgrims coming from outside at the temple. The temple provides four rooms and a dining hall for the convenience of visitors, and construction of a Digambar Jain Dharamshala is underway right in front of the temple, which will feature two large halls, four rooms, and a dining hall.
History
