Introduction
“Shri 1008 Digambar Jain Atishaya Kshetra, Baada Padampura, is located in the city of Shivdaspura, Jaipur district, Rajasthan.”
Situated approximately 35 kilometers from Jaipur on the Jaipur-Kota Road, this Jain Mandir covers an area of 50,000 square feet and is constructed of magnificent white marble. Padampura Jain Mandir is a renowned and unique pilgrimage site in northern India. The Moolnayak Pratima (main deity’s idol) of the temple is the ancient idol of the sixth Tirthankara, Shri Padmaprabhu, which is considered extremely ancient. This idol was discovered by a farmer named Moola Jat during the construction of his house on Thursday, April 27, 1944 CE, according to the Vikram Samvat 2001 (Baisakh Shukla Panchami). Since the discovery of the idol, the area has seen the resolution of water scarcity issues, cessation of various diseases among animals and abundant crops for the villagers. It is believed that praying at the temple alleviates mental, physical, and other sufferings. The beautiful idol of Shri Padmaprabhu is enshrined atop a high temple in the center of the circular temple. The foundation stone of the temple was laid by Seth Bhagchandji Soni of Ajmer. The unique circular temple was built from marble by Mahorilal Godha for the construction of the temple. The construction was facilitated by the donation of a large field. The temple's Shikhar (spire) is 85 feet high, and there is also a 61-foot-high Manastambh in the temple premises. The temple houses 10 Vedi (altars) adorned with statues of various Jain Tirthankaras. One of the main attractions of the temple is the colossal 27-foot-tall statue of Shri Padmaprabhu Bhagwan in the Khadgasan posture. The annual Rath Yatra (Chariot Festival) on Vijayadashami is the main event at the temple, attended by thousands of devotees. During the festival, Abhishek (auspicious bath of the idol) is performed on the Moolnayak Pratima.
Dharamshala
For the rest and relaxation of pilgrims coming from afar, a total of 52 rooms have been constructed in the Dharamshala since 1949-50. To fulfill the daily needs of the pilgrims, markets and shops have also been constructed. Currently, there are 23 permanent shops and 4 restaurants. For public service, an Ayurvedic pharmacy is also operational in the area. Additionally, a government allopathic dispensary is functioning in the premises.
